NIMBY is an acronym for the phrase “not in my back yard,” a characterization of opposition by residents to proposed developments/changes in their local area, even if often such residents would be supportive of such changes elsewhere; “Temporal NIMBYism” is the same concept, but one of time – individuals being supportive of change, but not to themselves right now
